Theodore Goodman, MD: Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and TMS
Dr. Goodman is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist specializing in treatment-resistant patients who may be suffering from depression, bipolar disorders, anxiety, psychoses, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related conditions. He has over thirty years of experience.
His greatest gratification and satisfaction come from seeing his patients and their families find relief. He recognizes that some patients may have anxiety about a chosen treatment, be it Transcranial Magnetic Simulation (TMS), Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), or Ketamine Infusion Therapy. He sees his role as being both a physician and a cheerleader for his patients, who have not responded to first-line treatments such as medications and psychotherapy.
He is committed to providing a thorough assessment of each patient’s situation so that he can recommend the treatment that is most appropriate for the patient’s needs, and most likely to be effective. He can educate his patients on what is necessary for them to get better, and he is reassuring to them and their families during the chosen treatment.
His primary focus is ECT. Still, he has been involved for 30 years in all aspects of Interventional Psychiatry, including TMS, transcranial electrical stimulation (tES), Vagal Nerve Stimulation, deep brain stimulation, and computer modeling of targeted brain stimulation.
Dr. Goodman has found ECT to be a treatment that helps a significant percentage of his patients. He was first exposed to ECT in residency when he saw the dramatic results that occurred with ECT treatment.
He joined TMS Health Solutions in the late winter of 2019.
Dr. Voronina is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist with a focus on novel approaches to treatment-resistant depression.
She has always welcomed the more challenging patients, where she considers the pathology, past, psychology and stressors to find the best, most long-lasting treatment possible. She first learned about Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) during her residency at the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and was intrigued by the promising data for treatment of patients who hadn’t found relief with medication alone. Having interest in novel treatments, improvement of brain connectivity and procedural medicine, she values the ability to perform brain stimulation that is very targeted.
As a dynamic provider, Dr. Voronina enjoys forming a more holistic impression of her patients informed by their culture and developmental journey. She is passionate in helping her patients get back on track. Dr. Voronina is a compassionate physician with gentle yet direct style. She understands and validates each person’s experience, enjoying hearing the stories and thinking through their treatment needs.
She joined TMS Health Solutions in the Fall of 2018.
