About Jason Garner, MD

Dr. Garner is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist who is focused on helping patients with mood disorders, anxiety, and personality disorders. He enjoys working with diverse populations including those in the LGBTQ+ community and patients with chronic medical illnesses.

Originally pursuing a career in law, Dr. Garner eventually switched paths and went back to school to become a doctor. He has always been interested in psychology and helping others. He had grown up with a relative with severe mental illness, which shaped this desire and instilled in him compassion for those with mental illness as well as providing him with an early, informal training.

His working style with patients involves truly trying to understand their world and work alongside them, working in a collaborative relationship to assist them in meeting their goals. He helps them get out of their sometimes entrenched way of thinking as he builds a treatment plan that fits with their lifestyle and supports their recovery.

Dr. Garner has always enjoyed learning about the brain. For him, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) allows another access point to healing for those suffering from mental illness. It is an additional mode of treatment to assist patients, outside the usual modes of psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy and can make a difference in helping a patient find relief.

He joined TMS Health Solutions in the late summer of 2019.

personal interests

Dr. Garner is a certified scuba diver and enjoys being in the water and exploring underneath the surface whenever he can. Having lived in Sacramento for his residency, he is excited to return following two years in Seattle- partly for the livability and culture, and partly for the best Mexican food in the world! He collects comic books, enjoys taking dance and music lessons, and spending time with his husband and two cats.
