About Ksenia Voronina, MD

Dr. Voronina is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist with a focus on novel approaches to treatment-resistant depression.

She has always welcomed the more challenging patients, where she considers the pathology, past, psychology and stressors to find the best, most long-lasting treatment possible. She first learned about Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) during her residency at the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and was intrigued by the promising data for treatment of patients who hadn’t found relief with medication alone. Having interest in novel treatments, improvement of brain connectivity and procedural medicine, she values the ability to perform brain stimulation that is very targeted.

As a dynamic provider, Dr. Voronina enjoys forming a more holistic impression of her patients informed by their culture and developmental journey. She is passionate in helping her patients get back on track. Dr. Voronina is a compassionate physician with gentle yet direct style. She understands and validates each person’s experience, enjoying hearing the stories and thinking through their treatment needs.

She joins TMS Health Solutions in the Fall of 2018.

education & experience

Dr. Voronina moved to the United States from Russia at the age of seventeen. After two years studying at SF City College, she transferred to the University of California, Davis. She completed her Bachelor of Science, graduating with honors and receiving a citation for outstanding performance in Chemistry and Biology.

Before heading to medical school, she took four years off and worked in a cancer research laboratory, using the time to ask herself about what she truly wanted to accomplish in life before continuing her education. She lived in San Diego during those years and considered that time invaluable in contemplating her life’s goals and committing herself to medicine.

She received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Colorado, Denver, School of Medicine, and then completed her residency at the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, in the Menninger Department of Psychiatry. During her medical school psychiatry rotation, she was captivated by the profound effect of brain illness that had so few physical signs yet significantly affected person’s whole outlook on life and daily functioning. She originally planned to focus on pediatric emergency medicine but decided to switch to psychiatry, giving herself permission to pursue what she liked. During her residency training experience, she enjoyed and developed expertise working with women’s and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.

Dr. Voronina completed fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Washington, Seattle Children’s Hospital where she enjoyed working with families from throughout WAMI region and valued faculty commitment to teaching as well as organizational excellence in providing patient care with a “Toyota Way” of approaching quality improvement and error prevention.
