About Carla Levin, MSN, PMHNP-BC

Ms. Levin is a psychiatric nurse practitioner with over 35 years’ experience providing care and outreach to patients from all walks of life, as well as comprehensive health education and organizational leadership. Her areas of focus include patients with bipolar and depressive disorders.

Deeply inspired by the rich learning environment at UCSF, where she received her training, Ms. Levin is strongly dedicated to her patients’ welfare and sees her knowledge and expertise as a vehicle for improving their lives. She provides holistic care, seeking to establish collaborative relationships with patients that emphasize education and empower them to make informed decisions about their treatment.

education & experience

Ms. Levin earned her first BA degree from U.C. Berkeley, then completed her BS in Nursing and her MS in Adult Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing at UCSF, as well as her Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner post-master’s training and certification, also at UCSF.

Throughout her career, Ms. Levin has taken on leadership and supervisory roles, directing hospital mental health units and mentoring staff. Her client work experience includes providing treatment and stress reduction training for both psychiatric inpatients and outpatients, serving as triage/lead nurse on an acute inpatient psychiatry unit, and assessing psychiatric patients in the ER.

Prior to that, Ms. Levin coordinated a clinical research study on anxiety at the UC Davis Department of Psychiatry. Additionally, Ms. Levin was a diabetes nurse educator, and also co-directed a home visit program for expectant and postpartum families in the community. Working with local public high schools, she created a nursing assistant program for students as well a re-entry for adults, and also provided comprehensive health education and crisis services as a school nurse.

In 2012, Ms. Levin returned to UCSF to earn her Post-Master’s Nurse Practitioner certificate, then worked at a large county mental health department providing diagnosis, treatment, medication management, and crisis counseling for a wide range of patients and psychiatric conditions. After finding that TMS could greatly improve the mental health of her patients, she decided to undergo training and was pleased to join the TMS Health Solutions team in December 2016.
